Hey everyone!
I was previously a nurse for a correctional facility in California. I have left state service, but there's a particular inmate I'd like to get in contact with. We didn't break any overfamiliarity rules while working together, but the interactions we did have made me want to get to know him more. I understand why he is incarcerated and my intention is to offer him friendship and someone to talk to. He's a bit of an outcast serving a life sentence. Is anyone aware of what California's policies are for former staff to talk to inmates? I've read in some states it's 6 months, others 1 year and so on. While working in the prison, I heard many stories of nurses who had relations with inmates that even visit them after they've been walked out. I just want to be a penpal for him of sorts and wasn't sure how to go about it.
