hello friends,
i just want to share my experience about nclex what i did to prepare. I am a nurse from NEPAL graduated in 2009. came to states in 2013. i didn't know where to start what to study at first. so i took 1 step at a time, started working on my credential evaluation with CGFNS, it took 1 whole year due to the devastating earth quake.
this post goes to all the Nepalese nurses who are preparing for NCLEX.
following are the materials i used:
1. saunders nclex comprehensive review 5th edition.
very good book for foreign nurses i read all the chapters and did all the questions. seriously if you read this book and understand it, its all you need to pass nclex.
2. hurst review.
i did online review.it helped me built my confidence my calm my nerves about the test.i did all 6 qbank and got around 70-83. didn't get what they suggested 84/125. but i wasn't discouraged.
3.uworld.
this is the best qbank you will ever find. i finished the qbank with 60%. the main thing is to review. i suggest not to go after percentage but to focus on understanding rationals.
4.kaplan qbank
finished with 64%
5. khan academy videos.
i learned alot from their videos. they are the best teachers in the world.i am so glad that i found this and guys its free, so please take advantage of it, they have tons and tons of videos and practice questions.
i also used lippincotts qbank but didn't do all of the chapters i thought i was too detailed then you need.
okay, to summarize;
i studied 4 months all together, did 75 questions each day. filled my calendar for a month, what i wanted to do each day. i would do questions in the morning and review in the evening.
just do not lose focus and keep studying i know it gets overwhelming but just take a deep breath, tell yourself you got this. and study study study.
if you know your content no matter how the question is being asked you can answer it. i did not want to fail so i over prepared my self.
on the test day, it took me 2hrs to finish 75 questions. i read every questions very carefully and took my time to answer after all those days of my hard work nclex felt so easy, even the SATAs. i did not cry after it shut off, i was pretty happy about the experience.
best of luck to everone who will be taking their nclex. you can do this.
i am happy to answer any questions you guys may have :)
