FNP review after certification

Published

Hi all!

I have been an FNP for nearly ten years but I have only worked in specialities. I want to know if anyone has any recommendations for a good review course to prepare me to get into a primary care position. I have the foundation but being out of a primary/family care mindset and focusing only on specialties has been a challenge so I'm hoping to find a course that can give me a general review. I'm not sure if just taking an exam review would be best or if there are any courses that are designed for NPs who already passed the exam and just want to review. Thanks in advance!

After working in specialty areas for a long time, it definitely takes a mindset shift to move back into primary care. From what I have seen, exam-focused review courses like Fitzgerald or APEA can still be really useful even post-certification, because they cover a broad range of primary care topics in a structured way. Some programs also offer specific refresher courses for practicing NPs reentering general practice.
