FNP AANP PASSED in May, 2019!

Published

Hi all,

I’m happy to report that I took AANP board exam on 5/30 and PASSED it!

I never posted on this forum before but trolled heavily when I studied for the board and learned so many great and useful tips which helped me a lot to pass the AANP test! I graduated on 5/17 and studied heavily for 17 days before taking the board exam. For the first 10 days for knowledge building, I reviewed system by system using Dr. Leik’s book, Barkley and Fitzgerald review books. I never got the chance to do a live course, but listened to both Barkley and Fitzgerald review lectures before graduation. And the for the next 7 days, I just did as many practice question sets as possible, probably only got about 3000+ questions from APEA book (mostly 70-76%), ExamEdge (10 question sets, with 73-85%), Dr. Leik’s review questions and the two sets of PSI (89% and 73%). Like so many others have already said about Dr. Leik’s book, it is the gold! This book covers many little knowledge points such as navicular fracture and spica thumb splint which are both on my exam, although the practice questions at the back of the book are a little below difficulty level of the board questions. Of all practice exams, I would say ExamEdge and APEA are most close to the difficulty level of the board questions.

On the exam day, I was a little nervous at the beginning. Maybe because I was nervous I felt the first 50 questions are harder than the rest of the exam! I marked 31 questions heading into question #51 but just kept telling myself to not to panic and keep going and move on, and finally questions 50-150 are much easier, thank god! In total, I marked 36 questions, and had about less than 10 questions that I don’t know the answers. For the most part, I would say 100/150 questions are basic knowledge level and are straightforward. I got a lot of geriatric, pediatric and pharmacology questions; got three similar questions on navicular fractures, but only 1 HTN question and 1 diabetes question.

Good luck everyone!!! I hope my experience help you as reading others’ tips and posts helped me pass the board, and I want to thank for those who shared their experience for the amazing tips and helping everyone else out! I wish all the best of luck tothose who are taking their exam soon!
