Florida Nursing Student

I am going to apologize in advance as I have a lot of questions.

I am currently attending Miami-Dade College for my nursing pre-reqs and would like to apply to a few nursing programs after I graduate. My choices are:

-Miami Dade

-FIU

-UM

-UCF

-Nova

Are any of these relatively hard to get into? Are there better schools in Florida that I should look at instead?

Also, what scholarships are out there, especially toward these schools? I've read a number of different scholarships, but I would really like to hear what others have found and gone through.

Lastly, I have read a bit about hospitals that pay for students tuition and books with the agreement of a few years of working under them. Do those still exist? Do any Florida hospitals do this?

FIU's BSN program is hard to get into as a freshman. They have many hundreds of applicants for a hundred seats. You need very good grades and other distinguishing characteristics, such as activities/volunteer work/etc. in order to have a good chance of getting in.

On the other hand, it's not that hard to get into their RN-to-BSN bridge program, and you have the same BSN at the end as those who do the full four-year program have.

Why aren't you considering MDC for and ASN (followed by a BSN bridge there or elsewhere, if you like)? It's by far the cheapest way if you're paying out of pocket.
