Hello Everyone

I wanted to make this post to see if there are any other applicants to FIU (Florida International University) for the Fall 2021 program. Maybe we can start a trend and support each other through out the application process. I am looking to put in my application in December 2020 for the Psych DNP program. Would love to hear everyone's experience and process. Good Luck!

Hi! I am also applying but for the pedi track!

I’m applied to FNP! I have 3.5 years nursing experience in the acute care setting

Anyone have interviews yet?

Hey! I actually have my interview this afternoon (send all the good vibes please). I can let you guys know what they ask and how it goes.

I've been intensely looking through previous threads to see how the interview process goes down and this is basically what I found and compiled together:

Tell us about yourself and your background.

Why FIU?

Why DNP (or MSN, whichever you're doing)?

Why your specialty (Pedes, FNP, Psych, etc)?

Leadership/Community service experience (supposedly FIU values this a lot)?

What do you see yourself doing in 10-15 years?

Elaborate what you meant on your statement when you said ________ (in other words, be familiar with your resume/CV and your statement of interest!).

Have you published an article?

A clinical question. For one thread, they said that they selected a question from a fish bowl. For another thread, they said the question was specific to the specialty you are applying for, so do with that information what you wish!

And then from like Youtube videos and other message boards they really stress for us to understand why exactly we want to be an NP and that we should be sure to truly understand the scope of an NP. And as always, keep it positive (no negative talk about like not liking the bedside and that's why you want to be an NP, for example). I've also been crafting an idea for a strengths and weakness answer just in case. Oh! And of course, be prepared with some questions to ask them that aren't easily found on their website!

I hope this helps! Good luck to all!

Not yet. Nancy said between 1-2 weeks, so maybe they send out an email this or the following week. I applied for the FNP

Hey guys! During the interview, I asked and they said we should hear back in two weeks and that was on April 14th so I’m guessing we’d hear back on April 30th?

Okay cool! So probably definitely by the end of this month. I just want to know already! I’m waiting on another program’s answer too. Do you guys live in Miami already? I applied for FNP full time.

That’s so awesome! Good luck to you! ? I hope you get both and can just have your pick of the lot.

I applied to Psych and I’m from Miami, but I left for a little bit and I’m moving back in literally two weeks ?
