FIRST time traveling advice

Hi my fellow nurses ,

I am currently a RN with 5+ years experience in MS/Tele, and working with a travel nurse company on my very FIRST assignment. I'm excited about the new experience and nervous as well. I've wanted to travel for years, and finally going for it, praying all goes well!! I'm just interested in any feedback from any other travel nurses, experienced or on their first assignment as well. The company I'm working with has been very professional and diligent, and my recruiter so far has been a pleasure! I'm from NC and hoping to get a first time assignment in NC as well, just so I can get a feel for things, and in case of any problems, I'm not far from home! I know people's experiences and opinions vary, but any feedback would be appreciated. I know that nursing is nursing wherever you go, and I'm comfortable with my nursing skills. I'm shooting for a good assignment, good pay, and good housing!! I can do anything for 12hrs is my motto!

hi this story sounds familiar lol. I have been nursing for almost 5 years and my passion is traveling . So i put the two together and my dream has come true. Im now a travel nurse on my first assisgnment in indiana. So far im enjoying it. Also im loving the learning experience of a new location/ hospital routine/policies and procedures. But all in all nursing is nursing. I worked on a renal/med/surg/tele unit before i started traveling and ended up taking a med-surg/post surgical /trauma position. At first i was a nervous (which is normal for most) due to a new place as in a whole new state for me/.people and floor/hospital,etc. The staff rns and techs are nice and helpful and approchable which is great. I have been at the facility for a month and have 2 months left..yay! My best advice is to go in with a positive attitude and never a negative. Keep smiling and know that god will never put too much on you that you cant handle. In nursing we all have overwhelming days , the best thing to know is that at 0708 its time for a new shift and you can finally exhale!! Lol! .```````` anyways i work with nurses choice. They pay well and i have good insurance for 25$ a week. Pay is weekly. I work 48 hours a week (dont think i will do 48 a week on the next assisgnment, i will do it only if i desire to pick up a day). I reside in a extended stay which is good for me since im single with no children.. (but its not a idea for a family). Also if you have emar experience (ex: Epic, quest, cerner...etc) , let me know!! Cause its some good money to be made! I hope i helped out some.
