first job and freaking out

hi guys after one month search for a job with interviews gone wrong and never hearing from the employers even after stalking them with as many phone calls....i finally got called back for orientation but dont know what to expect....i need help with what to do and what to expect....do i wear scrubs....carry my stethoscope......am i going to be on the floor already i dont know what to do and this is my first ever job and i dont want to mess it up.....lord help me....so i can take any guidance and ideas so as not to make any mistakes...please provide me with any insight i can take it.....thanks.....

I just got a CNA job (for while I'm in nursing school) in a skilled nursing facility and the paper I got with instructions said to wear either scrubs or business casual. You probably won't be on the floor. Orientation is mostly watching some videos, filling out paperwork, going over your schedule, meeting people, touring the facility, etc. I don't know if it'll be the same for you, but I'd say scrubs would be fine. I'm going with business casual for my orientation just because I don't have the right color scrubs yet. Hope that helps. Congrats and good luck!

I always atten NURSING orientation in Scrubs even if I do not work the floor the first few days. Purchase a nursing bag I got mine from Thirtyone.com or either a uniform store just a regular tote bag will do, bring your pen light, stethoscope, ink pen, highlighter (yellow), and permanent marker. You will need those things everyday at work. Even if you don't need them for the first few days of orientation if you have ur tote it really doesn't matter, at least if you need it you would have it! I recommend also having your own bloodpressure cuff (it can be very useful). Good luck on the new job. And one quick thing I tell all new nurses....give it time, have patience, every facility had its problems and drama so remember the grass is not greener on the other side, being short staffed is sadly normal at most facilities now, and it will be stressful, but once u get the hang of it, you will be great! Find a good nurse that works there and learn all you can.
