Last night was my second night as a CNA. I have had my license for over a year but I worked at an Assisted living facility. Ok, I am not the greatest and I get that, but the way the nurse was last night almost makes me want to not even go back. People have to start somewhere, no one gets a job no matter what it is and the education they had and automatically remembers everything or does everything right. But that is how I felt last night, like they were angry because I made mistakes... I am new!!!!!! Ugh!!!

Why don't you remind them of that?

Don't let the mistakes get to you and if you are having issues with your nurses talk to them personally. If that doesn't help then maybe have a meeting with your managers to mediate the situation. Eventually you will get the hang of everything. Keep your head up and have confidence in yourself.

I'm sorry! Being a new CNA can be really frustrating because we make a lot of mistakes, especially when we don't know our patients yet! I still have coworkers get mad at me but I know that I'm doing the best that I can and the mistakes I'm making are not putting the patient at risk, which is the most important thing. You've just got to ignore the hate and keep going and you will get better over time!

In my opinion, considering that you are new, your coworkers should expect you to make mistakes.
Also, the nurse should be professional enough to recognize the mistakes you are making and coach you on how to remedy your mistakes. You are new, it's the nurses floor and she needs to make sure her staff knows what to to and how to do it; and if they dont, she needs to educate them, not scold them. That her her job as your superior.
It sounds to me it is the nurse who is not doing her job not you.
If you have more issues try taking the nurse aside and asking her to give you constructive criticism, not scold you. If she can't do that then go to your DON.
