Finishing Pre-health

I am 50 years old and have just finished the pre health, I am on a year waiting list to get into Medical Assisting classes at a technical college. I am hearing more and more about people not finding jobs in Medical Assisting after graduating. And also that most people go back go back and get a nursing degree. I am trying to decide what I should do with my year while I am on a waiting list. And should I just go ahead and go into the pre nursing course and work towards a nursing degree. I also thought about taking a phlebotomy course at the cont ed. I want to make the most of my time and get into work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mshirah
