how do you finish your sciences in a timely manner at CSULB

Published

i just need advice or suggestions. i am currently a freshman at csulb going into my second year. with the recent budget cuts and all, we have this new policy of taking only 13 units maximum for undergraduates (which i find ridiculous considering i'm paying $3000+ to take 15 units, but only allowed to take 13).

i'm practically done with my ges, i just need science classes. i only have one science class for fall semester which is chemistry, but that's because that class is demanding and requires all my time. that means i'm gonna have to take the remaining three sciences in spring which is just as hard or maybe even harder. i tried to take at least a class or two over the summer at some community college. but it seems that allbiology, chemistry, and microbiology classes within a 25mile radius from csulb are closed for both summer and fall semesters.

any advice? thank you for your time.

Hi, I'm a CSULB student and will be starting the nursing program in the Fall.

The budget cuts have hit hard EVERYWHERE in CA, even CCs. But don't lose hope. Be relentless if you really want to do nursing!

If you can, try to get into physio and/or anatomy this summer. Crash the BIO 207 and BIO 208 courses at CSULB this summer. Crash ALL labs. If you get into lab, you get into the class. Try to get into physio if you have to pick one class over the other. It is so MUCH easier than physio.

Also try CCs-- I know the El Camino College System still has spaces for those science classes.

If summer doesn't work, repeat and do the same things for fall. You should try to double up on sciences. Chem and physio is definitely doable, but don't add much more to your schedule. If you don't think you can handle 2 sciences, stick to doing one at a time. Your GPA matters the most!

Good luck! Let me know if you have more questions.
