I'm a senior BSN student at University of Illinois at Chicago. For our "International and Global Health Care" assignment in my nursing issues class, my team picked the Philippines as our study country. I was hoping you guys could help us by sharing your perspective/experience working as nurses in the Philippines. Our instructor gave us a set of questions to answer. We've already found answers to some of them through available literature, however we're stumped on a couple of questions.
1. Nursing Practice: How are nurses used and employed?
Where do you guys work (i.e. hospitals, clinics, doctor's office, non-healthcare-related businesses, etc.)? What's the scope of a nurse's job there in the Philippines (functions, limitations)?
2. Nursing Problems: What are the major concerns that nurses encounter (whether from the point of view of practice, access to people and supplies, staffing, etc.)?
We would greatly appreciate your input. If you know other nurses, feel free to cite their experience/perspective as well.
Thank you!
