Fesenius Dialysis Machine add 5 or 10 mins??

Hello everyone.. does anyone know what is the reason for the Fesenius Dialysis Machine to add 5 or 10 mins for my 4 1/2 hrs of dialysis?? What I mean is... when I started out my dialysis at 6.00Pm.. it is supposed to end at 10.30pm. but why does it ends at 10:40pm What was the reason or the causes??

I sort of know from a nurse that the machine rinse itself after 1 hr of dialysis.. is it true?? if not then what is the causes..

These machines do internal safety tests several times during the course of tx., and during this time the patient is not being dialyzed, so to compensate, the machines add this time back... therefore your patients will always run an extra ten minutes or so.

We always explain this to our new patients.. and have to remind our not so new patients as well.. those that are impatient about coming off and wondering why they're not off the machine according to the exact time they were put on.
