Feeling Discouraged today

Published

I received my official rejection letter for RN school today. My application will be rolled over and reviewed for the Spring 2011 semester. Does anyone have any advice on how to improve my chances for getting in next time?

My school has the Kaplan Nurse Entrance Exam, and only allow you to take it twice, which I have done. The second scores were much better than the first, but apparently not good enough.

The other option I have would be to take some of my prerequisite classes over. The only one that the grade really concerns me is Psych, which I got a C in. My current GPA is around 3.1, and if I retake this class and get an A, it would only bring my GPA up to a 3.3. So would it really be worth it to retake the class?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I have the same fears you have, but i havent applied yet (same GPA etc..)

I say you re-take psychology this fall (or summer) and try your hardest to get an A.

I would also apply to more than once school, try to find out all the schools within a certain radius and see if their pre-reqs are the same, if so i would apply to those schools as well.

GOOD LUCK!

I definately agree to take psychology over again, the increase in the GPA make make the difference in you getting an acceptance letter.

I agree that trying to better a "C" is the way to go. Also, can you work or volunteer in the field... or take other classes while you wait? In other words: use your waiting time wisely, and towards increasing your "attractiveness" to the nursing school you're applying to. Good luck! :)
