took my Stats final tonight and it wasn't pretty. My GPA going in was a 2.5, so this isn't going to help it.
I have always had this weird mental block with math, and consistently have been a C student when it comes to math courses. My cumulative GPA is a 3.9 and this class is going to sink it a bit. (Hopefully not too much).
I really really REALLY don't want to have to re take this stupid class.
Honestly, how much actual math do nurses do anyway?
For those already in nursing programs, how big of a blow will this be to my chances of being accepted? Do I HAVE to retake it? *whines* If I can keep the rest of my pre req classes at a 3.5 or better, and of course all the other non grade considerations, I would like to think I'm still competitive.
I am just feeling really down on myself at the moment.

I really know what you are talking about! I just do not get it. I study for hours and hours, and still cannot remember enough to get a good test score. I am in Intermediate Algebra, and hoping to keep my C after the final next week. I have a 4.0 and this awful class will drag me down. The 5 nurses I know do not do any math calculations at work that come even close to what Int. algebra class goes into. They all have a calculations book and charts to follow, and the pharmacy does most of it.
I wish ya lots of luck:specs:hang in there!
This is just a bump in the road.

I totally feel you both! My Int. Algebra was sooo tough. I have been out of school since 1994 and never took Algebra. I ended up withdrawing at the end and will be taking it again in a few weeks. I feel a little better now, but it is hard.
I have some suggestions.
~If you can get a tutor. (My school has free ones)
~Also do as many practice problems as you can, it really starts to help.
I know that there is alot of math involved in drug calculations. But I couldn't tell you truthfully because I am not a nurse.......yet!

I can totally sympathize with this. I took my algebra final today and it completely ate me for breakfast. I am hopefully going to retake it during the summer so I can apply to nursing school next fall and actually get in. I have a complete mental block with math, I can't translate the numbers to letters to numbers and it just makes no sense at all.
I hope that your results come out better than you're anticipating! I'm sure they will. Good luck!
Just remember i is an imaginary number!
Oh I cant wait to do that again....insert sarcasm here.
