Feedback wanted from students in/or graduated from an Accelerated BSN program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I was recently accepted into an accelerated program and I just wanted to get some honest feedback from any students in an acc BSN program now or was in one. Was it worth it through the stress sweat and tears? How did you stay focused? If you felt like giving up what redirected you not to? How should I prepare for my program? Speak about the intensity of your classes if you don't mind. All feedback is appreciated!!

I'm in the first term and the stress is building. I'm still working one 12hr CNA shift a week, but most of the class doesn't work. I think having healthy habits already in place in your life is huge. I run 8-12 miles a week and that helps keep me sane, but that wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't worked up to that earlier. Having solid plans on how you'll get good groceries, park your car, take care of your pets/kids/roommates/whatever. The people having the most stressful time are those that don't have their non-school stuff sorted out. Get your books bought and start looking through them. If there is a part of physiology you felt shaky on, review it. RAA system, ADH, aldosterone will come back. So will the sympathetic nervous system, epinephrine etc. But really, it's mostly about organizing your life so that school is the most important thing for 15 months (or however long yours is) and creating a structure that keeps you healthy and smart enough and with enough time to pour over your books over and over.

Thank you for your response! I heard organization is key all the way. I heard brushing up on notes from A&P can help.I would love to hear from some other folks as well on here. I know there are plenty more people who were in an accelerated program. Pls comment!

I am also looking into applying to a ABSN program and would love to know how others are dealing with it. Good luck to you all :-)
