feedback please

I was reading on nurses with schizophrenia. My ex girlfriend probably has is judging by what's been occurring and the number of people in her family that has it. How can I get her to get it checked out and diagnosed? She keeps it a secret, so needless to say we're broken up do to the fact she feels she's never going to be comfortable with anyone. Any feedback is good feedback. She's a nurse and I want to help her.

Something to consider is that with many boards of nursing, schizophrenia has to be reported, and can result in licensure challenges. However, the best path towards understanding her issues is to see a well-reviewed psychiatry practice, and either see a psychiatrist or PMHNP (experienced one). She should also be frank about her work status and concerns for licensure. Before the first meeting, she should read her state board of nursing reporting requirements. There are many disorders with similar criteria to schizophrenia that are, however, treated similarly. These similar disorders may allow treatment and diagnosis that does not require reporting. It may seem like semantics, but it's an important distinction for nurses in many states.

Thank you much. I love her but she's in denial of what she has. She feels the Lord sends all the things that going on with her, I'm like no way he is putting you through this. Serious denial going on. Thank you again.
