Dear Chairperson,

My interest in nursing started after growing up watching my mom and her three sisters strive to be the nurse that they are today. They always came home with wonderful stories to tell which fascinated me because they were spending 12 hours helping people and enjoyed every minute of it. That's when I realize I wanted to do the same and join in my family line of nurses. I was often told to become a doctor instead since it is still in the healing field, but I will pursue nursing because it is more hands on with the patient. The nurse has more of an opportunity to make a connection with the patient and impact their lives, while attending to their medical maintenance. My decision to become a nurse was reconfirmed when my mom went to Haiti after the earthquake to aid her fellow Haitians in need, because I will be able to use my degree to aide others in need when disaster strikes.

I have experience working in an acute care hospital setting as a nurse intern, while in health academy. This experience has made me able to apply academic and occupational skills to become a successful lifelong learner, and given me a solid foundation to start a successful career in professional nursing.

If accepted into the school of nursing I vow to commit all of my talents and energies to become highly regarded in the nursing profession.

Sincerely,
