Fear of losing license

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello all,

I am a fresh nurse. I graduated my LPN program in March and passed the nclex in may.

I started my first job two weeks ago.

They provided me me with two days of orientation and on the third night they were short and asked me to work a cart by myself. The second weekend I worked by myself, they even had me run a unit and assist the med aid who was working the split unit with me.

Many things in this facility seem wrong wrong to me from a legal stand point. Whether it be medication sharing, the lack of orientation, lack of management and staff. Neither my preceptor or other staff nurses are aware of certain policy and procedures.

Being a new nurse I can't tell if I'm overreacting to these problems, because everyone tells me "welcome to the real world".

This job pays very well and I don't want to lose it. But I don't want to risk my license either. What do I do?
