Family Nurse Practioner questions

I have a few questions regarding Specialties as a nurse. I plan to keep working on improving my education until I become a nurse practioner. I am also very interested in Nurse Research. I have had a lot of family memebers with cancer and other health issues and I would love to do medical research. Can anyone give me any information on Nurse Scientist I believe they're called or Nurse Researchers? I certainly will focus on Family Medicine it's very important to me and I also plan to sub specialize in sports medicine. My goal is to have my own practice and helpeducate families that are low income on eating well and exercise to prevent sickness I believe prevention is key. But alongside doing that I want to make a real impact with research. Can anyone give me any suggestions or how I can find out more information on nurse research? Also are there any research assistant positions for pre-Nursing students. Vert curious thank You!
