Anyone out there taking physio this fall?
I am using the Stuart Fox text 9th edition. Not loving the chemistry section. I am hoping we move on to more interesting topics than "oxidative phosphorylation" soon. Yeeesh!

I was wondering the same thing...if anyone else was taking "only" physio...not A & P. And, I'm a Heather too.
We are also using Fox 9th edition, but she does not follow the book at all. I'm bored, and confused at the same time right now. I too am hoping things get more interesting and exciting soon. I'm thinking when we get to each organ system rather than chemistry I will find it more interesting. It's amazing though how much chem I've forgotten in the past year...I guess Anatomy and Micro took all my Chem knowlege away LOL.
We have our first exam tomorrow, so I must get back to studying. Hopefully there are others taking Physio this semester, and we can have a 'club' too.:)

Heather,
Hey, how did your test go? Good I hope! You must have started before I did to already be having an exam. We just did chapter 5 today & will be working on 6 for Thurs. & next week. Then we have an exam on the 22nd.
Do you have a separate lab as well? Mine is on Thursdays right after class. So far we haven't done anything but listen to more lecture. I too am waiting to get to something more interesting, so I hope it comes soon.
Our campus doesn't offer A&P as one class which is why I have to take them separately. I just have this & micro left before I apply for ns in the spring. If all goes well I will be starting clinicals this fall. Where are you at in the process?
Good to hear from you. Let me know how the class goes for you. Maybe if we get stuck on something, we can help each other figure it out.

Its odd to me that some schools split a/p and others do not. Is there a specific order you need to take these? Like Anatomy first? Here, we have a/p together. It covers 2 semesters, and I start a/p I this morning with Lecture, then have Lab this afternoon. I'm hoping it gets exciting right off the bat, because I'm not the type that can sit through 3 hours of someone talking with no hands on stuff LOL
Good luck to you both

Brandy,
I really don't know the difference between the split a/p classes & the combined. I'm glad I took anatomy first. So far it has really helped with the terminology in physio. I'm also just glad it's done. I don't know if I could have kept up the intensity that it required much longer than a semester.
So far I think I liked anatomy better. Even though it was difficult, it was extremely interesting. All we have covered in this class is chemistry thus far & I don't remember much from my last college chem course. It was many years ago.
Maybe it will be more interesting as the semester goes on. I can always hope!
I would be interested to hear how your combined class differs.
Best Wishes,

hello,
I just started A&P today. the professor hasn't started teaching anything yet. but, she handed out a packet 21 pages thick for the first section. CHEMISTRY! arrghh.. i loathe you. i started reading the first chapter. its making my head spin already. i took chem at another college and barely made it out alive there. it should be interesting to see how this class unfolds. my aunt, who's a RN, said to me with all seriousness, "Do all the reading and never ever fall behind." thanks. we have a lab this friday. well, good luck to you all.
Truthfully, I think your aunt gave good advice for any subject not just chem. It is sooooo hard to catch up if you fall behind. I can procrastinate with the best of them on most things. Paying bills, doing laundry, mowing the grass, etc, etc, etc... but I try NEVER to do it with schoolwork! It's just too important.
Chemistry isn't one of my favorite subjects either, but at least it only lasts until December. There are lots of holidays between now & then, so it shouldn't be too terrible.
If I can help, let me know. ( I probably can't but I'm willing to try:))
