Failing a nursing class and feeling very depressed

I am a fourth semester student and have one more semester left until I get my registered nurse license.

I am currently failing one of my classes. I have a 58% (F) in the class and a passing grade for my school is an 80% (B). I am waking up everyday feeling so very lost, unmotivated, and depressed. If I had a C for example, or a D, then perhaps I would feel hopeful and motivated. But with my current grade and knowing the fact that I scored the LOWESTTT grade in the class TWICE in a row puts me on edge. I am not the only person who is failing this class, but I do have the LOWEST grade in the course.

I am hoping I have a better studying strategy for the third exam and that I will do decent or well. However, what scares me tremendously is the final. I failed both exam 1 and 2 (F on both). Which means I have not truly GRASPED the material. Even IF I perform well on the third exam, how am I suppose to pull all my weight for that final when it is cumulative??

I am feeling sooo extremely lost and sad. I cannot seem to see a light at the end of the tunnel. My mind repeatedly is reminding me that I am finally going to fail my first nursing course......I can't seem to shake this thought off...to a point where I am 100% convinced and reminding myself everyday that I'm gonna fail this class. Does anyone have any studying strategies in studying for finals? This professor apparently asks some of her exam questions based on the STORIES she tells us during class. I NEVER recorded her lectures for exam 1 and 2. I do not know what to do. I am sooooo extremely lost as to how I should study for this final.

Please do not recommend to speak with the professor. The professor is great- her advice are not.

Thank you!

Hey Mandy!

Keep going! You are almost at the finish line! Your post has actually inspired me to keep pushing. I am in my first semester in an accelerated program, and I'm at a C. We all know a C or higher is required in nursing school. I'm very afraid, but I am trying my best to hold on! Hold on to that cliff Mandy! You only ONE semester left! Life won't always be easy, but we always have to show up, keep pushing, and keep trying! I would say maybe try to do a lot of practice questions or watch videos! Try different techniques and maybe talk to an advisor. I'm wishing the absolute best luck! We got this!

First things first, I'm sorry that you're so stressed out.

As for advice, I have a few questions first:

1. How have you been studying up until this point? Do you read the chapters? Do you take notes during lecture? Do you use additional resources such as videos, Picmonics, practice questions, etc.?

2. What are the topics that you're studying this semester?

3. What kind of questions are you getting right and what kinds are you getting wrong? Are you struggling with knowledge/memorization of key concepts or the application of them?
