I guess it would depend on your board of nursing what state you're from... But I mean I know some nurses that have been straight drug addicts & that have stolen medicine multiple times & scripts pads (this was 15 years plus ago) that were given many chances and their licenses were not taken away until.... Well basically they did horrible things and failed all the help.. but they were given a lot of Grace.. even though they got felonies they still were able to keep their license but on probation.... I seriously doubt a weight loss pill that's yours that's out of date when you're clearly fat and your doctor knows you is going to be any problem at all... But maybe stop taking it... Cuz you could always also ask for a retest! ... But my state gave them many chances even for those who aren't RX# okay... So let's just say you're a drug addict I wouldn't even be afraid then, but clearly you're just postpartum and you're a dingbat.. that wants to lose the mommy weight... It will be OK.. if not I think the nurses should rally up and support you... But I would do the following and remember it for next times
.....I've been on phentermine for weight loss a few times on and off in my life, I don't recall it ever showing up in a drug test. But ADHD meds a few times have but no big deal, but many times it doesn't even show when I was on it. They might have high parameters IDK. Give the RX# done. But I say nothing until the call from the doctor's office is there..... I've had at least three tests where I was certain I would be tested positive.... I had all the scripts ready and they never did... so I was on next to stuff from a psychiatrist for ADD... so I doubt that taking that prescription expired and as prescribed probably won't show up.... but I do believe they can pinpoint that it was infact phentermine, as when I was on Adderall they could tell the difference versus when I was on Vyvanse they could tell... And they could tell I was not a meth.... Because they have tests to tell the difference when you have the positives at least in my state.... But In this situation I would be on the phone with my doctor explaining the situation and asking for and renewed script. Or something. His or her support. And when they call (if they do) give them both numbers RX#s and explain that you've been breastfeeding and you're being monitored by your doctor... Depending on your state it might be a lot of monitoring required... I think my state requires a visit every 30 days to legally prescribe Phentermine. Unless the doctor has a special license as a weight loss specialist... And protecting his license or her license they might not be too happy that you're taking it now and would be glad to work you up and be glad to write you a prescription... As they want you to be well... In person to be given Phentermine is best... Specially postpartum anxiety depression all the things... Amphetamine ADHD medicine all of the things phetamine can also play into anxiety and make things worse..... So your doctor might not be happy with you but I would call yesterday... Bc it would be important to open the door also for your own health! To get your weight under control and to get your anxiety and everything all smooth away before you get into your new position 🫶🏼 But 20 years ago when I first started taking phetamine it I believe I could do 3 months without in person... Today not so easy in my state..... But also when your prescription bottle it says take One A Day for 30 days etc... Even though it's expired really you are supposed to use it within the 30 days you got it technically from x date ... There's some wiggle room but expired takes a couple years in my state... That's really a jump... So I would just have the clarification that your doctor approved you to take this prescription.... Because it is yours.... And what you say is true... I have bottles that say to take it as needed or this and that and my doctor told me to take it differently... I do what my doctor says... But Like if you have pain medicine from surgery and it says use between 5 to 10 days as needed (gives 15 pills) . And you keep the extra pills..technically you're not supposed to just use them whenever you're not supposed to use it beyond the days.... So even if it's 6 months later and it's like hey it's still valid prescription with your name but you're not taking it in that time period for that cause.... It actually wouldn't cover you Technically.... I wouldn't personally risk it. Technically you're supposed to turn them into the pharmacy for proper disposal! Technically. And not use them beyond the days even though it's yours.... I don't know... Maybe I'm just strict but I wouldn't risk it. I'm not a pain med person. Anyways. But I heard talk from nurses that one of our co-workers from the past got fired for taking something for a headache supposedly they had left over from surgery a couple months before.... but she still a nurse and I don't think she got in trouble.... what if you don't answer? Also what if you don't answer your phone thinks it's a scam call but you have an active script but you just never talk to them... I think they just let it go and not hire you... Because I heard that happened to one of my friends... Years back but thinks me of changed hers was from fibromyalgia meds.
But I'd be on the phone with my doctor for sure... Or at the very least direct them to my doctor to speak to if they call about it... To confirm that you were pregnant and all the things and that you are indeed fat 🫶🏼... Phentermine doesn't last long for weight loss... In my experience at least. But It can cause anxiety, so maybe it's making you anxious and you're fine. Literally if I took it now I would probably have an anxiety attack! For sure! 🙃 but I wouldn't take it anymore... I ended up losing all my weight and kept it off but... phetermine only helps a short time.... Like a season.... Don't worry just call your doctor. Postpartum brain is real. It'll be okay Mama 🫶🏼

My phentermine (weight loss) medication expired one month ago, and I started to retake it (I got pregnant immediately after receiving the prescription. I had a pre-employment UDS this morning, and I went to take another phentermine pill and realized the bottle expired last month! I'm freaking out. Am I going to be reported to the BON? Am I going to get fired from my current job? This was for a PRN job, and I genuinely didn't know it expired last month. I was not able to take the medication until I stopped breast feeding. I have the bottle still with a lot of pills left over. Just wondering what I should do.
