Experiencing frustration studying for HESI A2

Published

Hello all!

I am a newbie here, but am very encouraged to reach out to a new community as I embark on this new journey of nursing school.

My HESI A2 examination is scheduled for 1/31/17, and I am incredibly nervous as there is obviously much at stake. I have been studying for several weeks, but remain uncomfortable in the sense that I feel overwhelmed and am lacking a firm grasp of some of the topics.

I only have to take the mathematics and english portions and am just seeking some guidance. At the heart of the matter, studying for the english portions has frustrated me the most because I find as I take practice exams from several books I borrowed from the library, many of the possible answers could be based on an individual's perception or opinion. I have even encountered a few study books that suggest a particular selection may be correct, but it was not the BEST answer. These potential issues seem to creep up mostly on my review of vocabulary or reading comprehension.

In my view, I would rather be responsible to take the biology and AP portions of this exam, as those questions and answers are absolute, and do not leave the door open for interpretation or argument from a test-taker that is too analytical and reads into everything (me 😉)

Lastly, I am studying from the Elsevier HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review 4th Edition, Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exams 7th Edition, and Barron's Nursing School Entrance Exams 5th Edition. (The last 2 books being the ones giving me headaches and causing much of the second guessing)

Sorry for the long 1st post! Please walk me off the ledge 😊
