Does 10 years in the ICU as a specilaty technician give a new grad some what of an advantage going into the ICU right after graduation?

I don't know what a 'speciality technician' is, but I would imagine anyone working as an UAP in an ICU for 10 years would most definitely have an advantage. If you are going back to the same unit, you already know the general routine, the pace, what kind of patients the unit usually gets and are familiar (to a point) with the equipment specific to the unit.
I know when our Nurse Techs graduate and move into a nursing slot, they seem much more comfortable than an outside new new grad.
