1099 employee vs w2 employss

Has anyone worked as a 1099 employee? I am considering applying for a part time position, but it states this is a 1099 employee job. I have never had a job like this so I was wondering the pros and cons?

I worked as a 1099 for a year. Basically it's where you are not an employee and not entitled to any benefits. You are a self employed contractor. You will need to provide your own insurance and coverages. You cannot claim unemployment compensation. And the worst part is that you need to do much added tax preparation.
