Electronic Medical Records help or hindrance to patient care

We have a new electronic medical record system in our hospital. With all new systems it seems that nurses are now spending more and more time on electronic nursing documentation and less time with the Patients. Have any other people experienced this problem and any ideas on how to combat this problem

As the nurses get more accustomed to the electronic medical record system, timeliness of documentation should improve -- it's just one of those transitional things.
