Edinboro University

I was just recently accepted into Edinboro's innovative nursing program and was just wondering if anyone has attended this school and went through this program before, thanks.

Hi! I have applied to the Innovative Nursing program for this year and just did my phone interview Wednesday last week. I know several people who went through the program and they are 50/50 on it. The ones who rave about it though are great nurses! They said that they felt they were prepared well and as long as they kept up they did fine!

Question-did they notify you over the phone or by mail that you were accepted? I applied REALLY late so I feel lucky I even got the phone interview! Good luck-

I applied to several other programs around.

Hi,

They must have changed things since I started b/c I didn't have to do a phone interview. But I did hear that they were changing some entrance requirements. I applied and was notified by mail. I did have to wait on the waiting list for a year though. I am in my second semester and its going ok. Why do you think some people are 50/50 on the program?

Good luck and let me know how everything goes.

The people who were 50/50 on the program were not really into being a nurse to begin with. The ones who are great nurses in general popular opinion loved the program! Do you like the program? Did you have healthcare experience before you started...if so how much? How many hours a week are you in class/clinical/etc? I guess I will hear back next week or the week after about acceptance...very nervous!

Let me know your thoughts on the program--I would love to hear!

I do like the program, as long as you keep up with the assignments etc.., the fast pace shouldn't be a problem. I did not have any healthcare experiece before, I was actually in radio promotions. This semester my clinicals are peds, maternity, med surg and psych. I am in peds right now. Tuesdays and Saturdays we are at the hospital all day. Wednesday is spent at a daycare, school etc.. to give you a chance to job shadow a nurse or observe kids. Thurs and Fri is class in Peds and Maternity at Edinboro. Next month I will start the Maternity, then every couple of weeks you move to the next section.

I think the program is a good one. From what I have heard from people who made it and are now working, some things just aren't learned till you get out there and start working. You will know what I mean when you have those days where you feel lost and like you have no clue what you are doing.

Hi! I was wondering did you take anatomy and phys before applying? Or did many people who applied to the program? I am just wondering!

I had already taken A&P 1 and 2. Out of our 20 students, I would say about half had already taken A&P. But for the ones that had not and were taking it the first semester along with the other classes, it didn't seem to be a problem for them. Even though I had taken the class, I was still constantly bringing out my old A&P books and looking up names.

Hi Shirlray! I just wanted to say that I got into Edinboro for Fall2008 Innovative! I am so excited! I would love to pick your brain about the program-and how many hours a week are you in class/clinicals!!!

Thanks!
