Easter??

I work on Easter this weekend, and I was just wondering if most hospitals pay extra for this holiday or not?

My one PDN agency offers holiday pay for Easter as a floating holiday. So many ask for off its tough to cover all the medically fragile priority 1&2 pediatric clients. (Priority 3 clients are not prioritized for floating holidays)the holiday pay is often enough incentive to fill the shifts or at least the most needed shifts.

The other agency I'm lucky if scheduling remembers to code the six holidays as holiday pay...

At my old job, double time. At my new job zilch. It just depends.

My hospital job we got the day after Thanksgiving as a holiday, no ****. If you worked in the clinic you were closed and if you worked in the hospital, you got full on holiday pay. It cut down dramatically on sick calls, vacay requests for that Friday. At least if you were stuck for the holidays you would get a bit more cash.

What a few of my floors did was self schedule and divide into 4 or 6 hour shifts so no one was screwed. Easter and Mother's Day benefitted greatly from this. As long as everything was covered, the NMs didn't care. The nurses were happy and no one called out.

No extra pay but monday & tuesday will be a left over sugar extravaganza. In the words of that great philosopher Calvin, I expect to be "hyperactive and incoherent for most of the day".

Another Canadian that gets holiday pay if scheduled to work. Our full timers get 1.5 pay and a day off later in the month (for every holiday they work)

Our ORs are also closed for non-emergent surgeries. Clinics are closed as are GPs offices.

I am working Easter too. My hospital does not consider it a paid holiday, although I think it should be. We are going to have a party and everyone's bringing in food, so that should make it a little better for us having to work.

At my hospital, only the 'big six' holidays qualify for holiday pay: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So no, Easter is not a paid holiday at my place of employment.

Easter is a paid holiday at the facility that I work at.

Only extra money I will get for working Easter is the weekend differential.

It's a paid holiday at my hospital. Easter is a big one so I'm kinda surprised that so many of you are reporting that it's not considered a holiday.

Most places I worked as a nurse did pay holiday pay for Easter, but only one did so for Good Friday.

My present (non-nursing) manufacturing job offers a choice between triple-time pay and what we call 'Double and a Day', which is double-time pay plus an extra paid day off (to be used as a personal day at some other time). My last manufacturing job also did this. So for this weekend I'll be working Good Friday for double-time and an extra paid day, Saturday for time-and-a-half and then Easter Sunday for double-time and an extra paid day. Hardly anyone ever takes the triple time, as it gets eaten up in taxes anyway.

I don't get the difference between Easter and Christmas-seems to me you can't recognize one and not the other,they are both religious holidays....

Same here. I don't get it. Christmas is a "premium" holiday, paid at even more than other holidays, but nothing for Easter. But I agree. Keep it hush hush lest we lose our Christmas pay. I suspect if Easter ever fell on a weekday and the pencil pushers that made the rules had to work things would change.
