Does anyone have an opinion and/or any studies regarding the simultaneous infusion of incompatible medications in a dual lumen midline? Meaning, Drug A in lumen 1 and drug B in lumen 2 and the drugs are not compatible.
I once had great access to EBP and various studies and I've exhausted my (free) searches. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Mikey,
We know that you don't have the blood flow in your arms versus the central vascular system. Therefore, IMO, it is NOT wise to give two incompatible medications at the same time into an IV catheter which does NOT have the needed blood flow to dissipate the medications. Studies regarding this aren't available to my knowledge, so I would just say NO.

Agreed. Having a lively debate at work.
