Drug Test Nursing Student

Published

So two years ago I applied at a nursing program and was tested positive for marijuana. Fast forward, I have cleaned up and stopped using, life couldn't be better. I am planning on reapplying at the same school but at a different campus. I was never dismissed from the program, but rather dropped out because of issues I needed to take care of first. Is there any way that this could interfere with my application? I have not told the admission advisor of my dilemma and I'm wondering if it's even noted on my record. Has anyone ran into a similar problem like this?

I would imagine that it would be in your record at the school. As far as it affecting your addmission, that is up to the school. If you did any rehab or something like it I would get documentation showing what I have done to change that. I think different people view it their own way. All you can do is try.

Good luck to ya

I think that is something that should be brought up with a representative of the school since it could cause issues for you. In the event that it would disqualify you, knowing early may help with other options. It may not cause issues though, and it would be better to know that way you know where you stand and aren't just guessing.

I think it would depend where you had the drug test done. In my program, we take the drug test at our clinical site, and they never actually send the results to our school. The only thing our school hears about is whether or not the clinical site would allows us to work there, and dismissal could come from a number of reasons. Either way, since you can obviously pass the test now, that should be proof enough of your rehabilitation and dedication to the program.

Good luck!
