Drug Screening - "Negative Dilute"

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

So, I had to do a drug screening that my school required for my admission into their nursing program. When I got to the lab, the lady told me I had to drink 5-6 cups of water. So I did, now the results are back and it says "negative dilute" and it's marked flagged on the online thing we have. I haven't heard from the school yet, should I start to freak out? I mean, I didn't try to cheat or anything, I looked up and most of "negative dilute" results might mean that the person tried to cheat the test, but I did not. I just did what the lab lady told me to do. So, what should I do? The results came yesterday and I haven't heard from the school. I called them and I don't know why they just don't answer their phones. Will the school ask me to re-test or they will accept the result as positive, meaning that I might do it on purpose?

I dont know if "negative dilute" would be the same with my case. I went to have my drug screening for my CNA employment. I always drink lots of water to stay hydrated. Unfortunately, my urine was too diluted and the lab tech told me I may need to come back to re-test since the urine's component wasn't enough to be tested. ( my urine was like clearrrrr). Anyway, it went fine and I got my drug clearance.

I think you should come back for a re-check. I know some people will think that you tried to dilute your urine to cheat. In case of being drug-free, just come back for a re-test.

ps. My lab tech told me to drink some juice and try not to dilute the urine too much so the urine concentration would be sufficient for testing

cheers and take care

It depends on what your school will accept (which may depend on what clinical sites require.) Mine was dilute negative and my school treated it as a negative. Before I found that out, I read online that some will accept it and some will require a retest, and that a dilute positive was taken as a positive.
