Don't know what to do

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am a single mother of 2 daughters that are now older and understand that I want to really focus on my career. They are very supportive and are really encouraging. I couldn't ask for better kids. The hurdle that I am running into is that at one time I was taking pre-requisite courses at a local community college. When I first started going I was doing great and maintained a 4.0 GPA while working full time. However, I started going down hill due to personal and medical issues. Because of all that was going on I just dropped out of school. Since I had already dropped a couple of classes before by me dropping out completely I lost my financial aid and the financial aid that I had used for the semester I dropped out in - they are asking me to pay it back. I'm not saying that I shouldn't have to pay the money back - although I can argue with them on that but not going to waste my breath. My issue is that I am on a tight budget as it is right now. There is no way I can pay this money back. But until I do - they are holding my transcript. With them doing this - I can't register at any other colleges. I had planned on going back to school in the spring and start fresh. But before I can I have to get this "balance" paid off so I can. I don't know what to do. I get so excited when I feel like things are lining up for me to go back and then BAM!!! - this happens. Sometimes I wonder if it is meant for me to go to nursing school.

I know it's frustrating. My sister was in the same situation as you. Well not with financial aide because she didn't qualify but as far as paying the school back on their payment plan. She finally did but hasn't gone back to school and she was so close (it's a different degree so she can go back at anytime).

I don't have any real good advice for you, except to keep at it. How much do you owe? How much can you pay? Is there anyway to take a small loan out to pay off your balance, pay your loan out, and then pay the school out for one class at a time? Will you qualify for financial aide after you get your balance paid? Not sure how all that works. Just look at all your options. There has to be a way. I'm sure it seems very overwhelming and like it's not worth it if you have to take it slow but you can do it. Just do what you can do and you will get there.
