Does anyone know of a specific regulation that states that a NY nursing home is required to send a staff member with a patient in rehab or LTC resident to an out of house appointment? I suppose this could fall under the Quality of Care requirement with the vague language outlined in the SOM but I cannot find anything specific. If you have someone who is alert and oriented and is independent with transfers, is a nursing home required to send a staff member with a resident simply because they are demanding it? Any help would be appreciated please.

Often times the providers want someone to accompany. I usually ask the family to meet them there, if they aren't able and I have to I will send someone but in the case of someone A&O x4 who is comfortable going alone thats certainly permissible.
