Doing prereqs for nursing but want to be surgical tech too!

I'm currently doing my pre-reqs for nursing school, and I work in the ER as a PCT III. I have no formal certifications except for BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and the regular nurses aid education that the hospital put me through and I've been doing this for 2 years. Now, I would LOVE to be a surgical tech before I get done with nursing school because if I want to be an OR nurse, I need to have OR experience, so that would be perfect, but I don't want to waste time in extra school. I heard of getting a surg tech diploma which can test out, but don't know where I can get that and the comm. college here just the cert requires 48 hours of classes. Anyone have any advice on how to get in there without having to go through all the extra classes? Any advice is MUCH appreciated!
