:wink2: G'day wonderful nurses around the world. I am from Australia, obviously! :uhoh3: (I digress!) I recently married my highschool sweetheart of 14 years and in 19 sleeps I leave with my dog to join him in Vancouver Island to start our new life together. :1luvu: (I will be applying for Permanent Residence within Canada) I am also about to finish, in 10 working days, my last year of a Bachelor of Nursing degree!! :balloons: :D

I am presently an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (LPN)... soon to be RN! I have had near to 6 years experience in Oncology, Heamatology, Palliative Care and Geriatrics. I also LOVE nursing. My problem is I have been told that noone will employ me as a newly graduate RN with no RN experience especially coming from overseas. I totally understand newly graduate nurses who are Canadian or already Permanent Residents get the privilege first, thats natural, but I am slowly becoming a little FREAKED OUT! :selfbonk:

I spoke to the wonderful people at healthmatchbc who suggested I work as an LPN and that I speak to VIHA. I have emailed VIHA twice now with regards to my situation and have had no response as yet. I dont mind working as an LPN as long as I can get in there and do some nursing. However, I am noting there does not seem to be many jobs for LPN's!? Can anybody let me know how the job situation really is in Victoria/Vancouver Island for LPN's

I'm also a little concerned if I will get a job as an RN :sniff: especially now that I studied for so bloody long!! :bluecry1: I'm not sure if I should walk in off the street to hospitals or nursing homes and see if anyone will take me on, or join up with a nursing agency, if they will have me? or give up altogether... HELL NO! :nono: Could anyone shed some light on this mess for me?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope to hear from y'all soon!
