I'm looking into the University of Phoenix online RN to MSN program. Does anyone know about this program and what it entails? I'm new to this distance education thing and am looking for a great online school for an RN to MSN program. I don't want to take a bunch of pre-requisites (i.e.-chemistry, a foreign language, etc.), I'd love to just be elgible for enrollment with my AS degree and RN license. Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!

If you don't have info. on Phoenix then I'm also open to ideas regarding other online schools!

I'm not an expert but thought I'd give you the info that I do know. The person that I talked to was very good about answering questions. So, if you fill out one of their "call me I'd like more info" things on their website they'll give you all the info you need.

From the call I had I was told that pretty much everyone qualifies for at least some type of financial aid (for me mostly loans). Then from what I gather you take one class at a time each class lasting 5 weeks. From what I understand everything is done on line you log in to discussion I believe she said once or twice a week and then you have papers that are your other part of your grade. There are no tests perse. I can't remember the length of time she said for msn. Seems like she told me the rn to bsn was like 1.5 yrs full time. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your help! I have called and talked to a wonderful counselor. I was still just looking for someone/anyone out there who has done this program and what they thought about it! Or if anyone had info. on this program vs. Excelsior.

I already have my BSN so can't speak to their RN to BSN program. However I am nearing completion of my Master's in Nursing Education though their program. It has been a wonderful experience overall. It has taken me 2 years. I found the program to be very flexible around some major life events. You have to be somewhat well organized and disciplined. There is a lot of writing. But by applying the learning in that way it really helps you to retain it much better, or at least for me it has compared with the traditional classes I had completed for another master's that I never finished (that darned flexibility thing, just couldn't work out the glitches).

I have very much enjoyed the online format and you do get to know your classmates in the UOP format. It is more interactive than you would think for a distance learning format. I have studied with classmates from Saipan, The Czech Republic, Canada, the Virgin Islands. It has been a wonderful experience.

My 2 cents worth....Go for it!!
