Published

Hi there everyone! I am relatively new to this website...but i have been reading almost all day on the programs and different posts from everyone! There is alot of info on this website...glad i found it and registered.

Well i am wondering if anyone knows about Americare...i found this online and it sounds good and a fast track program...but i would like to know if anyone here has heard about the school..gone to the school...experienced it and cost?????

Please if you know a thing about it let me know...Thanks in Advance...Oreana

Hey Oreana!

Did you ever look into Americare? I'm really thinking about going to an infosession at the school this week to see what it's all about. It is sort of far from me, I live on the North side of Chicago and apparently their new campus will be in Hoffman Estates, but it looks like they are the only LPN school that accepts federal financial aid...and I need that. How is your school search going?

RaeMae - I think the best way to get your questions answered is to go and see them. Americare Institute has a very disciplined academic and business process. If you so choose to decide to enroll there, I think your time and effort will be worth the outcome -- plus, they do have Title-4 funding. (and nope, I don't work for them -- 'just so happen to know some of the good people who work there).

Goodluck!

Hey RaeMae!

When are you thinking about going to an info session? How far do you think Hoffman Estates will be from you? What area do you live in? I'm in Wicker Park..:)

Hi Oreanna,

Last year, I went to visit several private LPN schools. I wasn’t satisfied with the information I was getting. I figured I could only get the answer I am looking for unless I see it for myself. Instead of relying completely on other people’s opinions, I did the research myself. I knew it would be hard to compare their differences until I see their facilities and speak with their admissions.

In the end, I chose Americare Institute because it has financial aid and has an excellent NCLEX pass rate for LPNs. Also, it has no deposit requirement unlike other LPN schools (My WIA counselor was excited to find out that it offers PELL grant and student loans). I thought it was worth going to one of their information sessions at their Schaumburg office.

Thanks for posting this info Rachelle! Are you in the program now?

Not yet... I'm looking at the May program. How about you? What school did you choose?

I've chosen lots of schools..they just need to choose me back! lol I'm applying to Wright, maybe Loyola because I went there back in the day..but it's expensive and it sucks being older now having to take out loans when I didn't have any before, CSU, Morton, and possibly Americare, maybe even Ivy Tech in Gary because that's only a half hour away from me..Are you thinking about anywhere else? I would apply to that NWIHT if they had the fasfa type of financial aid. Do you live near Hoffman Estates? I haven't been out there since Poplar Creek was still open..:lol2:

I was originally considering going to Chamberlain for a BSN. They have a campus in Addison and just opened a location in Chicago right by Lane Tech H.S on Western. But I don't have the discipline to go to a straight 3 year program. I am looking for an LPN-RN bridge. I want to be able to work after the first year. Apply what I learn. Also, working as an LPN will help me pay my bills before racking up more student loans. I know a lot of LPNs who completed the LPN program from Americare Institute are starting with $21-23/hr at nursing homes. So, I don't know... It sounds pretty good to me.
