Hi I am scheduled to start the lpn program at the Toledo School of Practical Nursing in July. Does anyone attend this school or know anything about it? Any tips or advice would be helpful

Pretty,
I'm there and we've just finished a quarter.
Basically as far as classes go, have you taken the A&P and the Nutrition?
If Mrs Moore (the one who did the most talking during the orientation - I know she was there coz she cut our clinicals short that day :-D...) counted those classes in for you, you'll see yourself commuting only 3x a week! in not, you'll be coming every single day.
Anyway, advice for those who's planning on applying here, do you A&P and Nutri at a community college. you'll make your life much easier! And end up learning more. Because, really, face it how much A&P can you cram in two short months? And and only several sessions of nutrition must be a joke! (they are planning to offer a separate nutrition class in the future, but for now it's part of A&P)
Before I move on, I need to remind - mainly myself - this is a fast program! whatever happens, learning is ours... the student's... responsibility. If the professor forgot to assign to read a certain chapter, they won't care about it at the NCLEX PN!!! and it's unlikely there'll be time to read it later... material adds up pretty quick.
But all in all, classes are very easy if you've had had any college experience, and passable if last time you saw a black board was years ago in high school. Just read the books and do the homework. Assignments are feasible even with a p/t working schedule and toddlers around the house.
They had some reshuffling done with their teaching staff, so I can't tell you who your teacher will be. Anyway as long as you are polite and study diligently you'll pass. It's a given. They say the hardest quarter's the 2nd.
That's gonna be us :-( ...
So here's a pretty general intro. Got any specific worries?
We had some after the orientation and the very 1st session, but things worked out.
Let me know.
I remember it was hard to find info when I was looking for it, luckily, every year the # of posts' going up... great!

Can anyone give me the website for this school i can't seem to locate one. Please help
hello erica,
as far as i know, they don't have a proper website. they are part of toledo public school system. there are several webpages out there that can help you find more info about them.
- you need to call them, and ask the secretaries to send you their information package by email (that'll be the fastest way to get all the needed info).
- if you already know that you want to apply there and no sure how, ask them for the admission package (or whatever they call it) they will mail it to you (maybe even email!)
theoretically i could copy and paste the stuff they'd sent me when i was applying, but something may have changed.. so you really better off calling them.their office is open from 09:00-17:00, but the line will be more likely answered if you call between 9 - 14:30. leave them a voice mail with a phone # to reach you. they are very decent at getting back to you.
the info you will receive from them is detailed enough to guide you further.
(part of the requirements is a cpr certification and recent vaccinations. so get started on that asap)
good luck.

I am thinking about attending this school in the fall. I have taken anatomy at a community college but didn't pass I got a c- and truthfully didn't learn very much. Does this school teach that well to where they tell you everything you need to know compared to a community college where they just take your money. I plan on going with people I know to help study with but I'm mostly concerned about anatomy and also can you buy books from someone from psi? Are they all the same books or no?

Run in the other direction. Students were on the verge of fighting, Staff did not keep student confidentiality clause. Paperwork that was turned in was lost. Unorganized, unprofessional. I would not recommend this school. Only three working computers in the library alleged library The printer never worked! NO tutoring available. They say they have a computer lab but it's always closed and you have no access. in order to make copies of something important you have to beg the office staff and then they will inform you is not their position to do so. If you want to continue in a LPN program in Ohio I suggest looking at any other school other than Toledo School Of Nursing of PN. You have officially been Warned!!!! Another thing there is a barber school on the first floor. The men stand outside the door and just stare at you walking up and down the stairs make sexual verbal comments. And everyone acts as if's the norm. This is only a fraction of my experience. I wish I could say otherwise, but in good faith and honesty I could never recommend someone to this school.
