Nicotine is allowed in all 50 states and isn't tested for because it's allowed. Milk, cheese, eggs, bread, steak, and rice are also not tested for because they are allowed. Nobody cares if you smoke, dip, or chew. Death row inmates are allowed to smoke. Monitoring Programs can be tough and stupid, but they aren't that tough and stupid. There has been a grand total of ZERO nurses in the history of the United States to be kicked out of a monitoring program due to smoking (nicotine). Same thing for coffee (caffeine). Thanks that are allowed are NOT Tested for. The BON and Case Managers do not care if you smoke.
If you do smoke and you are ever asked by your case manager, then say Yes, I smoke, I like doing it, and I'm trying to increase my intake. Your case manager will say, "OK" because they don't care. Smoking is bad for you, but so is red meat and cholesterol. Those things are allowed.
Your case manager in Colorado LIED to you. You asked if "nicotine was tested for." The question you were meaning to ask is/was, "is nicotine allowed and can I smoke." Your case manager knew what you were getting at when you asked the question and her answer should have been (if she were honest) "yes, you can smoke." She purposely muddied the water by answering that she wasn't sure if nicotine was tested for when she KNEW deep down exactly what you were referring to, but she purposely left it "vague" which is....A LIE. She knows you can smoke and she knows nicotine isn't in any states monitoring drug test because she knows it's allowed.
Caution with your case manager. You either have a liar or someone who might be borderline mentally retarded.

I'm located in Colorado.
I asked my case manager and she said "I don't think so" but she didn't know for sure.
Has anyone here used nicotine while getting drug tested for a monitoring program?
