Do you talk to yourself?

I talk to myself, both on and off the job. I've overheard many of my colleagues doing the same.

Do you talk to yourself? If so, what are the topics of conversation?

Some times to appreciate myself and to support myself

I talk to myself quite a bit. The CNAs I work with regularly don't even bat an eye anymore when I do it. Anyone who picks up a night shift is usually caught off guard when I start in. Usually I'm talking about my own clumsiness, wondering why I can't find anything I need, swearing and yelling at the computer because PointClick Care froze up again right when I really needed it, or wondering why that one person who is on their call light 60 times doesn't ever seem to sleep at night.

Constantly. People have work have given up on trying to figure out if I'm trying to talk to them.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that when I do initiate a conversation I also seem to start it out with their name at the beginning of the question, or I'll make direct eye contact.

Yep. I've had coworkers inquire who I was talking to.

I was talking to myself yesterday at my med cart and my patient was asking me who I was talking to... I'm on the dementia unit.. And a very confused patient thought I was crazy for talking to myself. Well... Yeahhhh. Lol.

I have also been known to lecture myself. I always start it out with my first and middle name 😒 lol. I did this actually yesterday. I usually work 2nd shift and picked up a 1st and kept trying to punch out PM meds instead of AM meds. I said "LittleCandles Marie, it is 8am.. Dang it, Stop grabbing the 8pm meds."

I talk to myself all the time and so does the other nurse in our office. Our desks are next to each other and sometimes we are each talking to ourselves and each other. Our Doc thinks it's hilarious and likes to tease us about it.

I have frequent and full 2 sided conversations with myself. Generally inside my head, but sometimes outloud. And if it's in my head I'll be making facial expressions.

It's my way of working through an issue (big or small). One side of me is reasonable and the other side is devil's advocate. Kinda like making a mental pro/con list.

I've been saying "niche" out loud, as it seems to be the word of the week here on AN.

Nnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Me too, as well as my own worst enemy!

I do. My biggest problem is that I do not remember if I said something just in my head or out loud to someone. I end up repeating myself a lot.. :)

Yes, but mostly I talk to my pumps. Why are you still beeping? Why don't you want to work? SHUT UP ALREADY.
