Do you really need a rolling backpack?

Published

This question has probably already been addressed, but what the heck...

How many of you use, or plan to use a rolling backpack? Is it honestly necessary for your particular program? At first I was going to buy a rolling bag, but then I ran into a standard backpack that I fell in love with. Not sure if I should turn my back on the rolling bag idea..(I know, I should probably wait to see how many books Im required to bring) Just curious to see what everyone is doing in terms of hauling their items to school.

PS. While on the subject of backpacks....anyone recommend a good lunch box for those 8 hour school days?

Good luck to everyone starting this fall. I've got 26 days to be lazy and I'm taking full advantage of it!!! :lol2:

I'm not sure yet about a rolling backpack for myself. But you should get yourself a cooler bag and an icepack to go into it to keep your stuff cold. I bought mine from Target and it works great!

I really don't carry books with me so I would wait and see!! All I use on a daily basis is a large binder. Books are used for study at home in my situation.

I'd wait it out! I fell in love with an actual backpack as well and decided to buy it as opposed to the rolling backpack. Wait until you start your classes and see how often you'll need to bring your books to class (and how many/how heavy). I've noticed that a lot of classes don't require you to bring you books to the lectures, but you will still need them to study/complete assignments at home. It's nice not having to carry around the complete heavy load! :)

My rolling back pack and I have a love hate relationship. I'm finally going to leave Big Bertha in my car for this semester. I do not need to bring Bertha to class, I would only bring her along for when I study or have to write a paper. :)

I only used it for my first semester then after that only one book was necessary

I have one and im in my second year. Last year it saved me and I know it will save me this year. The books are soooooooooooooooo heavy. I think they make them cost as much as they weigh. So I would go with a rolling one. I actually got a carry on luggage bag b/c it was cheaper than a backpack.

I am in my final semester and I never used a rolling backpack. I do not carry my books with me, it is such a hassle. I try to keep it light- my binder, calendar, purse and something to eat.

I already bought a rolling backpack, the A&P book I have was already worth it, it weighs a tonne!!! We had our orientation already, and the instructor told us to bring ALL our books every day. So, I am glad I have the rolling one.

Good Luck!

28 more days until I start!

I use a duffle-type bag. It was actually gift from my employer for nurses week. I'm only required to take one book to class. I can fit 3 large binders, the text book, my laptop, and day planner in it. I use a cold pack lunch box for my sandwich.

I refuse to own a minivan and I refuse to use a rolling backpack :|

I got one after I dislocated my shoulder last year and couldn't wear my back pack. It has come in so handy! I've used it the last 2semesters. Hardly anyone had a rolling backpack last semester, then after about 3 weeks at least 20 people had the same bag I had :/
