Do people with ADN still get hired or only LVN/LPN get hired?

Does getting an ADN land me an employment to save up before taking BSN?

Or would I be better off getting an LVN/LPN  for an employment before taking BSN?

I have read way back then that ADN are getting obsolete as hospitals prefer to hire BSN.

Is that true recently?

My Background: I do have a BS in Computer Information Systems. But that field of study is too far from health sciences/healthcare/medical field. I do need some employment that will hopefully earn a lot and save up a lot of money because I plan, if I am still able to by then, to get into a PA program.

There are so many nurses that only with BSNs are working right now.

I graduated from an ADN program in December 2019 and haven’t had a problem finding work. I’m on my second job out of three I’ve interviewed for, and it came with a $24,000 sign on bonus. I know this isn’t the case everywhere, but here (mid-west metro of about 500,000 pop) it’s no problem getting hired with ADN - though they will make you sign a contract to get your BSN in 5 years (I starting on mine this Summer).

whether a nursing shortage was real or not pre-Covid I think we’re definitely looking at one now.

that said, I think LPN/LVN is making a comeback in acute care (these things are cyclical). Will they displace ADN RNs? Possibly to some degree, but I don’t think that’s happened yet

Are you sure you can’t use your BS to get into PA school? What about taking any prerequisites you’re missing as a post bac student rather than a nursing degree?  I had a BA in political science but took a fair number of math and science classes that I was able to count toward my ADN and RN-BSN programs.

if you feel you have to go through nursing first, what about an accelerated BSN?
