Good evening/ day
I have been a Cna for way to long, currently working in a hospital. By the time I graduate I will have a 10 year ADN degree lol. My concern is I just started my sciences and I’m worried about grasping the concept of chemistry in particular, it’s hard to explain via web but I have no interest in how many electrons and protons it takes to create sodium chloride. I am more interested in the level of sodium chloride that is needed to keep your body at bay when sick. I have been working at this for so long, I am already discouraged (because life happens) but also because it is so hard/competitive to get into nursing school. I am worried I don’t have what it takes to compete or keep up. I have been told numerous times by co workers and superiors that I have what it takes but I like lack confidence because of how competitive it is. I am currently at a community college, out of the 28 students in my class 26 are going for nursing. Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

One piece of advice a doctor gave me was "when you are in school, don't worry about how the other students are doing." Essentially, concentrate on your own goals and not let the performance(or lack thereof) of other students become a mental obstacle for you. You can do anything anyone else can do if you put the time and work into it. I hated math but that was because I did not understand it. I actually got much better at it after much work.
It does not matter that you don't like chemistry, you need to master it in order to go into nursing. Khan Academy has some basic chemistry videos that can help you with this. You will need to have your drive to become an RN outweigh your fear of chemistry, but you can do it, many have.
