I have problems controlling my bladder and am due to go into hospital for more tests. I have had similar tests in the past, which I have found very embarrassing. They often require a full bladder and to have stopped medication, which can be really difficult. I have had 'accidents' during other procedures, and dread this happening again.
I self manage my condition, and rely on pads for my dignity, and always carry spares and a change of clothes. Staff are usually very good, but I still find it hard discussing my anxiety and concerns. Worried about having problems in front of other patients.
I know staff are used to dealing with the problem, and it is not a big deal, but wondered about how best to discuss my concerns with them. I know I'm being irrational, but I've actually just postponed one test, because I was so anxious. Sorry to bring this minor issue up, but it is a big deal for me. I may also have to stay over night in the future, and am worried about this too, if I have problems then. Advice please!
