Difference in Pay

Published

Hey ya'll, I was just wondering if there is a huge pay difference between BSN and ADNs??? A nurse had told me a few years ago that there is only like 25 cents difference. All of a sudden, this seems hard to believe. :uhoh21: I know it all depends on experience etc., just give me your best shot. TIA

im currently in a bsn program right now. i don't believe that there is too much of a diff (if any) in pay. the advantages of having a bsn is that if you decide to go back for your masters, you can apply directly (after obtaining your experience). with an ADN, you would have to go back for your BSN (typically one more year). Also, having an BSN might give you a little advantage when applying for administrative postion. i say "little" because i don't think you have to have a bsn to do so. i'm sure they would take a person who has a ADN who has 10 years of experience and is hardworking over a newly graduated BSN nurse.

the hospital looks for experience when it comes to pay. after you graduate, you are a RN. your badge does not say RN, BSN or RN, ADN.

i personally went for the BSN because it gives me more options on what i could do later on.

hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply.

I've been googling and found a forum that a bunch of people were saying that if their is a pay difference it isn't much. And that a BSN is good to have if you want to go into management positions. Thanks Again
