Difference in Cost of CSU vs UOP

Look at the prices. UOP is super expensive, I believe about $2400 or $2800 per course.

I was going to go to the CSUDH, but they are having too much trouble with the california education money crisis to bother.

Instead I went to the Fort Hays State University ($168/credit) super cheap. It’s taken me 4 semesters. My other friends went to the University of Texas at Arlington which is just as cheap. Look at both of those schools. Try the UTA, most courses are only 5 weeks long.

well I have to differ here. I've been out of UOP for a year due to family issues. I believe with a $75 online text book fee it's an additional $1600 per course. Yes very expensive. You pay for the convienence. All classes are well organized, on the same schedule with pretty much the same criteria, so two classes in, you've got your grove, with assignments, working with a group project (class participation), having to do so many posts a week... it's generally the same, and it flows easily.

I've done 8 months with them, they took all my credits that they could, are flexible with my choices for the next courses and including people that I've bonded with in my program to ensure we stay together as a team. The classes are only 5 weeks each, while a bit time consuming, I've only done one at at time, it never really interfered with my life, once I adjusted to the schedule that repeats for each course.

So I've invested a large sum of money, as compared for in-state because it's quicker, they take all your past courses and everyone is there to help you succeed. I got sick of advisor calls to check up on me to make sure everything was ok. At state, I don't have the support, or continuation of the same style of teaching that allows me to know what to expect for each course.

I'm going back shortly, as my issues have resolved, and can't say enough about the BSN on line. So that's my own two cents. They beat out the brick and mortar BSN program here, that is the laughing stock of my state. I'm 15 years in nursing, and know enough to know when my education is valuable.

I'm yet to complete, have 6 months more, but peers whom have done this are easily accepted into the MSN in state programs and no credits have been denied from the three nurses in my unit whom have gone to state for the practitioner program.

I don't have that experience, only what peers have shared with me, so research it if you wish to continue and make your decision from there. Expensive yes, detailed and organized, yes, .... are there other options, just as good, maybe better, I'd assume the answer is yes, but this is a good fit for me.

take the advice for what works with you, but it is a solid program, several against it here, but they don't give specifics as to why not. Try the BSN threads and ask them why UOP didn't work. This may help you decide.
