What is the difference between WHNP AND CNM? Can the both deliver babies? Do both give Pelvic Exams? Who gets paid more? Which is more popular? I am confused someone please help me! LOL

In *general* CNMs catch babies, and WHNP do not. But, I have heard that some WHNP do deliver babies in very rural hospitals in the emergency room if necessary...but I wouldn't count on that.
YES, both do routine gyn care, like pelvic exams.
Popular? I don't know. It seems to me that a lot of the responsibilities/day to day tasks of CNMs and WHNPs overlap, except for the childbirth aspect.
I also know there are schools were you can be certified for both almost simultaneously, but I don't know why a CNM would need to also be a WHNP?
Maybe someone else will give more input!

At UPenn you can get both at the same time. I've heard it's to broaden your options when looking for jobs, expand your scope of practice, and/or give you something to fall back on if you don't want to deliver babies anymore at some point in your career.
