Did you get into Mesa CC/NAU CEP program for Spring 2013? post here!

Published

hi all,

so i thought it would be really cool to see who else will be in my class for nur 330 at nau (north vally extended campus) in the fall. i just got my email notification yesterday, soooo exciting! i already filled out the application for nau and requested all my transcripts to be sent there. does anyone know when we will be getting any info packets in the mail???

a little about me....i haven't been on the wait list very long, since december 2011. i have been working my butt off for the last year to hurry up and finish all the prereqs and coreqs needed to apply for the cep so it's been crazy! i am originally from nyc and have been married for 4 years, i don't have any children yet (well 2 cats and a dog!).

looking forward to talking to my future fellow classmates! :nurse:

I also just got my acceptance letter! However, I'll be attending PVCC.

I feel your pain about trying to complete the classes so you could apply. I attended the information class and realized I only needed two more classes to apply or I'd be waiting another semester. I worked every day for six weeks to finish FON241 and PSY 240 at Rio on top of BIO202 that I was already taking in person. The hard work really paid off. Congrats to us, we did it!!

cool so we should both be in nur 330 in the fall. congrats!! that is very admirable especially at rio salado. i despise that school

i took bio 205 there and it was absolutely the worst class i've ever taken, i give you a lot of props for taking 2 classes at that school. yeahhh we did it!!! :yeah: :w00t:

i took bio 205 during winter break last year and then 5 courses last semester. it was pure craziness!!! so worth it though, yeahhhhh!

did you apply to nau already? i wonder how long it takes to be admitted.....

Wow, that is a heavy course load! Good preparation for how life will be the next two and a half years.

This was the first time I took classes at Rio. I can see why you hate it. lol I've taken chemistry 151, Micro, Patho, A&P 201 202. both general bios and I got a B in FON241! I worked so hard to get it done quickly but the amount of assignments and how hard the teacher graded made it difficult. The midterm was the nail in the coffin, there was no way I was getting an A after that. I'm just glad that class didn't come back to bite me when I applied to the CEP.

I applied to NAU yesterday. Not sure how long this will take. Already sent my transcripts. Total cost of everything was $50. :( I better get used to being poor now. I don't think I will be working when this program starts. Do you plan to?

hi! so in regards to how long it will take for admission...i emailed the undergraduate admissions people at nau and this is what they emailed me back...

"it usually takes about 4-6 weeks to process transcripts. once all of the transcripts are processed, it takes 1-2 weeks for an admissions decision to be rendered. "

almost two months!! that's insane , they obviously take their time at that school. i'm just wondering when we will be registered for nur 330 if it takes that long to be admitted. i got my louie info and looked in the class schedule. according to what is open in the "search for classes", nur 330 has two available. one is wed 5-8pm and the other is thursday 9am-1pm. it says it is from 8/27 to 10/12 sooo i'm not sure how accurate this info is but i would probably do the 9am to 1pm class if available. if this is true then yay i can go home (nyc) for thanksgiving!!! i miss my fam :redpinkhe

so anyway yeah bio 205 was a horror. i got 100's on all my assignments and bombed the way "out there" midterm and final. it seems to be a consensus at that school that the cumulative exams are soooo difficult. i was very prepared and still got 65 on both mid and final. unfortunately brought me down to an 88, i was so mad!!!

soo i purchased this book cheap from amazon amazon.com: how to survive and maybe even love nursing school: a guide for students by students (9780803618299): kelli dunham: books

it is really helpful and really goes over everything we will experience. regarding being broke...yes i will be frugal also look at this site the dollar stretcher: frugal living since 1996

i started a cna course at mcc a few weeks ago so i may work prn somewhere in the beginning but by block 2 or 3 i don't think i will work. it's gonna be very intense with the additional online courses but we can do it!!!

4-6 weeks?! That seems excessive. I really don't know too much about what nursing 330 is supposed to be. One of my friends was admitted in the fall so she is about to take NUR330 as a summer class. I wish I was doing everything with her but it will be nice to have someone to give me tips.

I haven't gotten any of my LOUIE info. I'm having a hard time navigating NAU's website. I'm getting a little antsy because when I check my application status at nursing.maricopa my status still says "Waiting to be placed" I faxed and also mailed my letter of intent back the day I got it. It's only been two days but the website says to wait 24hr for processing. Is yours updated?

I am curious about that book. I wonder if they'll have it at the library. The other thing I am curious about getting for school is a tablet. Asus has a pretty cool one that has a keyboard/extra battery docking station. I think it could be very helpful and much more practical to take to class; my laptop is a beast and it hurts my back carrying it.

Can you PM me your email address?

How do I do that? :x

Thanks! :redpinkhe

Hey guys, im trying to figure out how many people are applying and not getting into the NAU CEP program thru MCC. I will be applying in June and really want to know if I even have a shot. If you've gotten in in the last 6 months or not, please tell me your GPA and Hesi scores. I'm so worried mine aren't good enough. Thank you!!!
