Dialysis at VA Medical Center

Has anyone worked in a dialysis unit for the VA MedicalCenter? I currently work for one of the big two companies, but I was interestedin how the VA's unit operates, and any pros or cons to working there.

Ladybug: what was your schedule like? How many nurses worked in your unit?

My schedule was 10hr shifts... We didn't work on Sunday's ... I think it was 8 RN's and 3 LVNs with one LVN only worked part time .. I enjoyed it .. Although I didn't like Salt Lake City to much

Did you only do chronic or did you also do acutes?

Mostly always chronic as a LVN .., but you did everything for the patient .. RN signed your charting of course but you start the patient on the machine yourself... With fistula or port
